On the day of 28th of November 2014, the promotion of „International Protocol on the Documentation and Investigation of Sexual Violence in Conflict“ was held and organized by „Medica“ Zenica, British Embassy, Post Conflict Research Center (PCRC) and BIRN. Within the promotion, first line 080 02 23 34 for help and support to survivors victims of war rape and sexual violence has been declared as opened.
This very important event was opened by His Excellency Edward Ferguson, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The director of „Medica“ Zenica Sabiha Husić who is the owner of the Women of the World Award 2014 as well as the Major of Zenica Municipality Husein Smajlović addressed to the auditorium.His Excellency Ferguson emphasized that the promotion was held in Sarajevo on the 19th of November 2014 and that Protocol has been promoted in Mostar, Banja Luka and Brčko.
He also mentioned that one of the missions of this Protocol is wish to have as more as possible cases of violence ended.Estimates say that there was between 20000 and 50000 women raped and sexually abused during the war (1992-1995) and the work has to be a more precise as possible in order to help every single case.Also, His Excellency Ferguson used this occasion to congratulate to the director of „Medica“ Zenica Sabiha Husić for receiving „Women of the World Award 2014“ as well as emphasized the importance of such Award for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Ms Sabiha Husić presented and declared as open the first line for help and support to survivors victims of war rape and sexual violence 080 02 23 34 that will be in use 24/7. The presentation was followed by projection of movie „The Silent Scream“ produced by BIRN and panel discussion was held with survivors and representatives oft he organizations that deal with questions of sexual violence in conflict.
