“Medica” Zenica marked the 12th of April – The International Day for Street Children

On 12th of April 2013, on the Square of Alija Izetbegovic the Association “Medica” Zenica on the occasion of the International Day for Street Children, organized a street action, sharing of promotional materials, exhibition of works by children – beneficiaries of Drop in center and shelter as well as signing a petition which seeks from UN to adopt the International Day for
Street children.
International Day for Street Children – the 12th of April was established in 2011 year by Consortium for Children – the leading International network dedicated to realizing the rights of children all around the world. The Consortium leads a worldwide campaign of signing a petition that asks UN to adopt the International Day for Street Children. In this way, they want to make a pressure to all governments in the world to recognize, support and protect children who are involved in the life and work on the streets.

In the same spirit, the International Day for Street Children was marked for the first time this year at the level of Regional network for children involved in the life and/or work on the street, which consists of organizations and institutions from seven cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. Members of Regional network for children involved in the life and/or work at streets („Zemlja djece“ Tuzla, „Nova generacija“ Banja Luka, „Medica“ Zenica, KJU „Disciplinski centar za maloljetnike“ Sarajevo, „Altruist“ Mostar „Centar za integraciju mladih“ Beograd o „Ekumenska humanitarna organizacija“ Novi Sad) marked in the same time on April, the 12th the International Day for Street Children with similar program activities in all mentioned cities.
