In this context, the three partner organizations: Krog Institute,, Medica Zenica - Center for therapy of women and children and the Center for Education and Research "Nahla”, with financial support Of the European Union, devised a project "For our better future - protection and promotion of children's and women's rights in BiH". The project will raise awareness and educate women and children about their rights and empower them to promote and protect their rights in their local communities. A group of 20 women and a group of 30 children will be trained as trainers in the field of women's and children's rights. They will hold awareness-raising sessions on women's and children's rights for their peers - over 400 children and 200 women. In addition, an online module on women's and children's rights will be prepared to be used in schools and women's organizations during the implementation of the project and after its completion.

In addition, 50 decision makers will be trained in the areas of women's and children's rights and gender-based violence. Following the training, they will prepare and implement their own awareness-raising initiatives aimed at influencing positive changes in the rights of women and children among their colleagues and in their institutions.

The project will contribute to increasing respect for human rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina in general, and the rights of women and children in particular. Also, the project will contribute to the elimination of gender-based violence and the strengthening of democratic practices at various levels in society.

For Our Better Future - Protection and Promotion of Children and Women's Rights in BiH

Legislation providing for the rights of women and children in BiH is largely in place as part of its preparation for an EU future. Nevertheless, promoting gender equality and the rights of children is often side-lined, and the action taken in this respect is insufficient.

In this context the project »For Our Better Future – Protection and Promotion of Children and Women’s Rights in BiH« was designed by three partners, Institute Circle, Medica Zenica – Therapy Center for Women and Children and Center for Education and Research – Nahla with the funding of the European Union. The project will raise awareness and educate women and children about their own rights and empower them to defend and promote their rights in their communities. A group of 20 women and a group of 30 children will be trained to become trainers in the field of women’s and children’s rights. They will deliver awareness-raising sessions for their peers – more than 400 children and 200 women. In addition, one online module on women’s rights and one on children’s rights will be produced and used in schools and women organizations during the project and after its end.

Besides, 50 decision-makers will be trained in the fields of women’s and children’s rights and gender-based violence. After the training they will plan and implement their own awareness-raising initiatives to influence positive changes regarding women and children’s rights among their colleagues and in their institutions.

As such, the project will contribute to increased respect for human rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina in general and for women and children’s rights in particular. It will contribute to elimination of gender-based violence and to strengthening democratic practices on different levels in the society.
