On the day of 28th of March 2014, Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie and the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs from Great Britain William Hague, visited „Medica“ Zenica in order to become more familiar with their work with the focus on twenty one-year old work with women, girls and children survivors of war rape and other kinds of sexual violence during the War in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the period from 1992 to 1995. Honorable guests met the survivors during the visit as well as with the professionals from “Medica” Zenica and they talked about their condition and the fact in what amount the country takes care about them today.
Guests have expressed high respect towards “Medica” Zenica for everything that was doing and that does for women survivors and from whose work and experience can be learned a lot. They promised that International Community will do everything for them in order not to be forgotten. Jolie and Hague initiated a major initiative about the preventing of sexual violence in armed conflicts. The result is declaration that was presented last year at the UN. The declaration was adopted by 134 countries that have committed to uproot sexual violence in the countries in conflict.
